TVET COLLEGE ADMISSIONS: 50,000 FIGHT FOR 6000 GOVERNMENT SLOTS

SUMMARY: The demand for employable skills in Uganda has attracted more Senior Six leavers to seek for admission into Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges, as opposed to universities. This year, a total of 50,918 Senior Six leavers, including those with at least two principal passes, will be competing for 6,000 government slots at TVET colleges across the country.

SUMMARY: President Yoweri Museveni has given hawkers in Kampala a financial boost of UGX 200m to enable them improve their businesses. The donation was delivered by State House Comptroller Jane Barekye and senior presidential advisor in charge of political mobilisation Moses Byaruhanga, yesterday. “The vendors we have served today are over 2,000, each of them will receive UGX 100, 000,’ Barekye stated.
