SUMMARY: In a bid to reduce illegal gambling across the country, the Uganda Police has confiscated over 6,000 contraband gambling machines and arrested several suspects under a crackdown code-named Operation Mashine Haramu. The operation was part of a wider effort by the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) to combat the proliferation of illegal gambling machines, which have cost the Government at least sh350m in lost revenue.
