- Bushenyi District has 17 Sub-Counties/Town Councils, 72 Parishes and 571 villages.
- The population of Bushenyi is 283,392 according to the census report 2024.
- In the last Presidential Elections, Bushenyi had 140,415 registered voters, out of these, 87,415 (62.3%) voted.
- His Excellency polled 66,572 (78.6%) while NUP polled 10,937 (12.9%). The others polled 7,232 (8.5%).
- In 2025, Bushenyi has 153,993 registered voters. The voters increased by 13,578. The Polling Stations are 384 up from 258 in 2021.
PARISH DEVELOPMENT MODEL FOR BUSHENYI DISTRICT
· Bushenyi District and the Municipality with 72 Parishes have cumulatively received Shs.25,946,610,000=. This includes the first disbursements of the F/Y 2025/2026 which was sent to Local Governments in November 2025. Out of this, Shs.22,268,138,000= (85.8%) has been disbursed to 22,349 beneficiary households.
Bushenyi has a total of 69,236 Households, out of these 22,349 (32.3%) have received PDM
· With 69,239 Households in Bushenyi, 22,349 (32.3%) have benefited from PDM. The remaining households are 46,887 (67.7%).
EMYOOGA
Bushenyi District with three Constituencies has a total of 52 Emyooga SACCOs with 25,267 Members. Government has so far disbursed a total of Shs.2,470,000,000=.
EDUCATION SECTOR
Bushenyi District and Bushenyi Ishaka have a total of:
· 151 Government primary schools and 155 private schools.
· 16 Government secondary schools and 67 private secondary schools.
· 13 Government secondary schools provide Universal Secondary Education and Universal Post Ordinary Level Education and Training.
DISTRIBUTION OF GOVERNMENT PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN THE PARISHES
Bushenyi District and the Municipality have 72 parishes, with 58 hosting at least one Government primary school while 14 parishes are still lacking. However, both the District and Municipality have 151 Primary Schools.
SECONDARY EDUCATION
Bushenyi District and the Municipality both have 16 Government secondary schools. 13 schools out of the 16 provide Universal Secondary Education and Universal Post Ordinary Level Education and Training with a total enrollment of 9,470.
DISTRIBUTION OF GOVERNMENT SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN BUSHENYI DISTRICT
Bushenyi District and the Municipality both have 17 Sub-Counties, with 11 hosting at least one Government secondary school, while 6 Sub-Counties are still lacking. However, Bushenyi has 16 Government Secondary Schools.
CONSTRUCTION OF SEED SCHOOLS
Bushenyi District is benefiting with the construction of 2 Seed Secondary Schools. With the completion of the 2 Seed Secondary Schools under construction, the Sub-Counties without government secondary schools will reduce to 4 from 6.
HEALTH SECTOR
Sub-Counties with each having a Health Centre HCIII
· Out of 17 Sub-Counties in Bushenyi, 2 have HCIVs and 11 have HCIIIs. Only 04 Sub-Counties do not have a Health Facility of either a Hospital, HCII, HCIII or HCIV.
The following are planned:
· Upgrade Kajunju HCII to HCIII in Kyabugimbi Sub-County.
· Upgrade Kashenyi HCII to HCIII in Ishaka Division.
· New HCIIIs to be constructed in Kizinda Town Council and Nkanga Sub-County.
WATER SECTOR
Out of 571 villages in Bushenyi District, 516 have access to a safe water source representing an average coverage of 90%. This leaves 55 villages (9.6%) without access to safe water.
Completed projects
· Constructed Bushenyi–Ishaka Municipality Water Supply and Sanitation System serving 78,063 people.
· Constructed Kitwe–Rwentuha Town Council Water Supply System serving 30,156 people.
· Constructed Nyeibingo RGC Water Supply System serving 1,475 people.
· Constructed Kakanju Town Ccouncil Water Supply System serving 4,331 people.
· Constructed Kyamuhunga Town Water Supply System serving 5,65.
· Constructed Kakoni Water Supply System serving1,298 people.
· Constructed Kyabugimbi Water Supply System serving 3,870 people.
· Constructed Kayanga Gravity Flow Schemes and Orubingo Piped Water Systems serving 2,100 persons.
· Rehabilitated and expanded Nyeibingo Gravity Flow Scheme and Kabingo (Muko COU) Piped Water System.
· Rehabilitated 16 existing boreholes (Rwentaka, Nyakatsiro, Kyeigombe A, Rutooma, Nyakizinga, Birimbi, Nyabubare, Kibingo Central, Nyabibari, Kitabi, Kihiire, Orubingo, Nshumi, Kemitaha, Nyeibingo and Akashanda) to ensure reliability and sustainability of water supply.
· Construction of Akalema, Bunura, Kaceeka, Nyamirama, Kitojo and Muraro springs providing safe, natural water to households.
· Rehabilitated 11 springs in Irashaniro, Bugomora, Kabande, Nyakigabagaba, Kasa I, Kigimbi, Nyakateete A, Nyakateete B, Rugarama, Rutooma and Swazi villages.
Ongoing and Planned Projects
· Design and extension of Piped Water Supply Systems in Ruhumuro, Kyabugimbi, Kyeizooba, and Bumbaire Sub-Counties.
· Design and construction of the Bitooma RGC Water Supply and Sanitation System.
· Rehabilitation of 9 springs in (Irashaniro, Kempene, Nyakazinga, Kyarihigika, Nyakateete A, Akasusano, Kitsibo, Kijumo A and Nyamyerande).
· Extension of the Nyabubare piped water system to cover additional communities.

· Constructed Bushenyi Irrigation Demonstration Site in Nyakabirizi Division on 10 acres.
· Constructed Kanyantama Solar Powered Irrigation System in Nyabubaare Sub-County on 10 acres.
· Constructed 1 Solar Powered Irrigation System in Rurengye Sub-County on 2 acres.
· Constructed 1 Solar Powered Irrigation System in Kashasha Sub-County, on 6 acres.
ENERGY SECTOR
Out of 17 Sub-Counties in Bushenyi, 15 are connected to electricity.
In the next Kisanja, government will extend electricity to Kyamuhunga Sub-County and Bitooma Town Council.
