UWA issues guidelines for motorists transiting through Murchison Falls National Park during the Karuma Bridge closure

Kampala, Uganda, September 19, 2024 – The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has released essential guidelines for motorists transiting through Murchison Falls National Park due to the temporary closure of Karuma Bridge. The guidelines aim to ensure safety, protect wildlife, and preserve the park’s natural environment.

Effective immediately, vehicles using the Tangi-Bugungu gates via Bulisa Town Council will be exempt from entry fees until December 31, 2024. However, motorists must adhere to the following rules:

Transit Guidelines:

  1. Operating hours: 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
  2. No night parking at gates.
  3. Speed limit: 40 km/h (with a fine of UGX 100,000 for overspeeding).
  4. No littering (with a fine of UGX 100,000).
  5. No unnecessary stops except in emergencies.
  6. Remain on the designated Tangi-Bugungu route.
  7. No hooting or feeding wildlife (with a fine of UGX 100,000).
  8. No motorcycles allowed.
