Uganda Strengthens Military Ties with Bangladesh and Nigeria

September 9, 2024: The National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) in Bugolobi, Kampala, hosted high-level military delegations from Bangladesh and Nigeria to strengthen international cooperation in the defence sector.

Lieutenant General James Mugira, Managing Director of NEC, received the delegations, marking a milestone in Uganda’s efforts to build strategic partnerships with fellow African and Asian nations.

In the morning session, Lt. Gen. Mugira met with the National Defence College of Bangladesh, led by Group Captain B M Hasan Mahmud, as part of the Bangladesh Armed Forces War Course 2024.

The discussion focused on the significant role of defence industries in driving socio-economic growth and development.

Later in the afternoon, Lt. Gen. Mugira welcomed a delegation from the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management, led by Major General Wisdom Benjamin Etuk, who are on an Africa Study tour to Uganda.

The meeting emphasised the importance of knowledge sharing and collaboration in the defence sector, highlighting the strategic significance of military institutions in national development.

Both delegations expressed gratitude for Lt. Gen. Mugira’s insightful presentations, praising Uganda’s commitment to regional and international cooperation.

The meetings demonstrated Uganda’s dedication to strengthening military ties with fellow nations, promoting peace, and advancing socio-economic transformation through defence industrialisation.
