In June 2024, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni engaged in several significant interactions and directives, highlighting his commitment to Uganda’s development and stability.

During a lecture to visiting army officers from the National Defence College of India, President Museveni emphasised Africa’s historical and strategic importance, critiquing past political missteps and underscoring the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) mission of unity and prosperity.

Addressing land rights, the President firmly directed landlords to cease illegal evictions of bibanja holders and return excessive nominal rent fees, reiterating protections established in the Land Act of 1998.

President Museveni stressed the necessity for Ugandans to produce competitive, high-quality goods and services in his economic vision. He advocated for affordable electricity, reactivation of rail and water transport, and a robust oil pipeline to reduce production costs and enhance trade.

During a lecture to army officers of the Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka, the President warned against politics of identity, citing Sudan as a cautionary example. He called for a focus on common interests to foster unity and prosperity.

Celebrating the First Lady’s 76th birthday, President Museveni praised her efforts in combating corruption, particularly in Karamoja and the Ministry of Education, highlighting her transformative impact on governance.

At the Inter-Religious Family Festival, the President extolled the virtues of a traditional African family, emphasising wealth creation, respect, and education as pillars of societal strength.

The Minister of State for Gender and Culture, Hon. Dr. Peace Mutuuzo, lauded the Presidential Initiative on Skilling the Girl and Boy Child, urging youth to embrace this opportunity for empowerment and self-reliance.

This month’s highlights underscore President Museveni’s dedication to strategic leadership, economic competitiveness, and societal well-being, reinforcing his vision for a prosperous and unified Uganda.
