January has been a month of significant milestones, reflecting Uganda’s dynamic role on both the continental and global stage. Uganda proudly hosted the CAADP Summit from the 9th to the 11th, reinforcing our commitment to agricultural transformation and food security in Africa. On the sidelines of this important summit, President Museveni held pivotal bilateral meetings with distinguished leaders, including Algeria’s Minister Youcef Cherfa, Liberia’s Vice President, and Eswatini’s Prime Minister. These engagements underscore Uganda’s strategic diplomatic outreach and its role in fostering strong bilateral relations across the continent.
Further extending his diplomatic engagements, President Museveni attended the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. During this global event, the President invited investors to explore opportunities in Uganda and Africa, positioning our nation as a hub for sustainable development and investment.
Back home, the President continued his relentless drive toward national development. He commissioned the Skilling Hub in Busoga, empowering the youth with practical skills for self-reliance and economic growth. In Lira City, he launched the construction of the Akii-Bua Olympic Stadium, a testament to our commitment to nurturing sports talent and infrastructure. Additionally, President Museveni commissioned the new Tembo Steels Plant in Iganga, marking a significant boost to Uganda’s industrial sector, and launched the Jinja Airfield Upgrading Project, which is set to enhance our aviation capabilities.
