The Presidency, August 2024

Must Read

Welcome to the August 2024 edition of The Presidency, where we bring you the latest updates on President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s efforts to secure Uganda’s prosperity and regional influence. This edition captures a remarkable series of engagements and milestones that continue to shape Uganda’s leadership role on the African continent.

This month, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni welcomed and held discussions with several African leaders, including Gabon’s Transitional President, H.E.Brice Oligui Nguema, for a visit that deepened ties between the two nations, focusing on agriculture, defence cooperation, and economic development.

In addition, the President hosted King Mswati III of Eswatini and Lesotho’s Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Sam Matekane. These high-level diplomatic exchanges focused on strengthening bilateral ties, deepening agriculture, defence, economic diversification cooperation, and fostering Pan-Africanism.

Infrastructure development continues to play a central role in the President’s vision for a connected Uganda. The President’s commissioning of the 132kV Kole-Gulu-Nebbi-Arua power line, which connects the West Nile subregion to the national grid is a transformative step in Uganda’s journey toward energy self-sufficiency.

Furthermore, President Museveni continues to prioritise wealth creation, address land issues, and advocate for commercial agriculture as a pathway to prosperity for every Ugandan.

President Museveni also reinforced Uganda’s leadership on the international stage by receiving credentials from several newly appointed ambassadors. These diplomatic engagements reflect Uganda’s growing influence and commitment to strengthening partnerships across Africa and beyond.

Furthermore, we highlight the President’s interaction with Zimbabwean military officers, where he reiterated the principles of Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Socio-economic Transformation, and Democracy as foundations for Africa’s prosperity.

Security remains a priority, with President Museveni passing out 298 counter-terrorism warriors after their rigorous training.

This edition underscores Uganda’s steady path toward socio-economic transformation and regional integration. Whether it is through strategic partnerships or internal policies aimed at reducing unemployment and fostering industrialisation, Uganda remains committed to securing a prosperous future for her citizens and the wider African continent.

We hope you enjoy this month’s edition and look forward to your feedback as we continue to share Uganda’s journey towards lasting progress and prosperity.
