Must Read

Friday, September 27-President Yoweri Museveni has emphasised the importance of seizing the opportunities presented by the Kapeeka Industrial Park in Nakaseke District to drive economic transformation while officiating the opening of a two-day trade fair at Namunkekera Agro Processing Limited in Kapeeka, Nakaseke District.

“To transform our economy, we must utilise the opportunities presented by Kapeeka Industrial Park,” emphasised President Yoweri Museveni during the opening of a two-day trade fair at Namunkekera Agro Processing Limited in Kapeeka, Nakaseke District.

The industrial park, a symbol of Uganda’s industrialisation efforts, currently accommodates 28 operational factories and has significantly contributed to job creation, employing over 15,000 individuals and reducing unemployment in the region.

Hon. Francis Mwebesa, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, lauded President Museveni’s support for industrialisation, recognising its pivotal role in Uganda’s economic growth. He emphasised that industrialisation is a key driver of the country’s economic development.

“Industrialisation is key to Uganda’s economic development,” noted Minister of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, Hon. Francis Mwebesa. “President Museveni’s championing of industrialisation has driven our economic growth.”

The Kapeeka Industrial Park has been instrumental in supporting import substitution and economic growth, but it faces challenges such as land disputes and the need for financial assistance.

President Museveni assured that efforts will be made to address these challenges, including resolving land conflicts and providing financial support to local farmers.

“We must address the challenges facing Kapeeka Industrial Park, including land conflicts and financial support,” President Museveni stressed. “No one will be forcibly evicted from their land.”

Hon. Evelyn Anite, Minister of State for Investment and Privatisation, stressed the significance of the Buy Uganda, Build Uganda (BUBU) initiative in promoting domestic products to bolster national revenue and create employment opportunities.

“Supporting local products through BUBU increases national revenue and creates jobs,” emphasised Minister of State for Investment and Privatisation, Hon. Evelyn Anite.

President Museveni’s call to action for Kapeeka Industrial Park underscores the need for Ugandans to capitalise on the opportunities offered by the industrial center. As the park continues to expand, it is evident that President Museveni’s vision for Uganda’s economic transformation is gaining traction.

Recommendations:

  1. Embrace the BUBU initiative and advocate for local products to support national revenue and job creation.
  2. Explore investment prospects in the Kapeeka Industrial Park.
  3. Address challenges, including resolving land conflicts and meeting the financial support needs of local farmers.
