PRESIDENT MUSEVENI APPOINTS BYAKAGABA AS THE NEXT INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE

The President and Commander in Chief of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has selected Abbas Byakagaba as Inspector General of Police, succeeding Martins Okoth Ochola.

Byakagaba is a seasoned law enforcement officer with vast experience in the Uganda Police Force.

In place of Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Katsigazi, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) James Ochaya would serve as his deputy.

The President of Uganda appoints the Inspector General of Police, subject to Parliament’s approval, under the Police Act, Cap 303, which mandates the appointment process.
