President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and First Lady Maama Janet Museveni answered Census questions about their households before they were counted during the National Population and Housing Census 2024.
Dr. Chris Ndatira Mukiza, Executive Director and National Census Commissioner of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, led the exercise.
The President thanked Dr. Mukiza and his team for a complete process and urged Ugandans to work with the enumeration team on future plans.
“I was happy with the questions because I could see that they are aiming at getting data that is useful for planning,” he added.
The first technologically driven census (Digital Census) intends to determine Uganda’s overall population as well as baseline information on people who have benefited from government programmes.
The census will also determine the population in the subsistence economy, young unemployment, and people with impairments by category.
