The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has officially released the 2024 examination timetable for the Four Examinations (4Es). The theme for this year is ‘Embracing Security and Holistic Assessment of Learners in a Dynamic Environment.’
The exams will take place in the following periods:
- UCE (NLSC): October 11 to November 8, 2024
- UCE (Transitional): October 11 to November 15, 2024
- PLE: November 4 to 7, 2024
- UACE: November 8 to December 6, 2024
The executive director of UNEB, Dan N. Odongo, emphasised the importance of exam security and holistic assessment of learners.
“We are committed to ensuring the integrity and security of our examinations,” said Dan N. Odongo, UNEB Executive Director.
For the first time, UNEB will administer exams under the New Lower Secondary Curriculum (NLSC) for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE). The transitional examination, based on the old curriculum, will also take place, providing an opportunity for candidates who missed the 2023 exam.
A total of 1,320,400 candidates have registered for the 4Es, which is a 7.8% increase from last year. Female candidates make up 51.1% of the total.
Key Highlights:
- 1,320,400 candidates are registered, a 7.8% increase from 2023.
- 51.1% of the candidates are female.
- There is a 28.4% increase in UACE candidature and a 6.6% increase in PLE candidature.
- New Lower Secondary Curriculum (NLSC) exams have been introduced.
Odongo also mentioned that involvement in examination malpractice will lead to result cancellation and possible arrest. He emphasised that the successful conduct of the exams is a joint responsibility of all stakeholders.
“Candidates, parents, and educators must familiarise themselves with the examination regulations and guidelines to avoid any issues, as involvement in examination malpractice will lead to cancellation of results and possible arrest,” said Dan N. Odongo, UNEB Executive Director.

- Deadline for submitting Continuous Assessment scores: October 30, 2024
- Candidates must sign parallel registers to confirm their registration status.
- Parents and educators are advised to prioritise examination security.
