Kampala, Uganda— The Ministry of Local Government is currently hosting a technical mission from the World Bank to discuss the implementation of Phase 2 of the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) programme.
This phase will begin in July 2025 and will cover 10 cities and 26 municipalities.
Implementation of USMID Phase 2
The meeting, which is taking place at the Ministry of Local Government headquarters, focuses on key aspects of the upcoming phase, including its scope and coverage.
The Permanent Secretary, Ben Kumumanya, is leading the discussions, attended by heads of departments, senior officials, and personnel from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development (MoLHUD).

World Bank Support
The support and guidance from the World Bank will be crucial for the effective implementation and sustainable impact of this project.
USMID Phase 2 aims to build on the successes of the previous phase, which resulted in significant improvements in urban road networks, local economic development, and primary drainage systems across various municipalities.
