Summary: The Mombasa Tea Auction (Sale 38), which concluded on September 17, brought a slight improvement in tea prices for Uganda. Ugandan teas averaged $0.98 (UGX. 3,640) per kilogramme, an 11% increase from $0.87 (UGX. 3,230) recorded during the third week of August and a 12% rise from the average of $0.86 (UGX. 3,190) at the same time last year. Uganda’s tea has the potential to be among the best.

Summary: The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) have rescued 40 people, mostly women and children, from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel captivity. The joint rescue operation took place on Monday, after a fierce fight in Biakato, Mambasa territory, 67km Northwest of Beni in Ituri province, according to the UPDF Mountain Division and Operation Shujaa Spokesperson, Maj. Bilal Katamba.
