SUMMARY: The Government has secured UGX 5.5 trillion to commence the construction of the anticipated Busoga Sugar Factory in Luuka District. The plant, whose construction works are expected to be commissioned early next year, will be in fulfilment of President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign pledge to construct two farmer-owned sugar processing plants in Busoga aimed at reducing the challenge of excess sugarcane in the Sub-region.
