SUMMARY: All political parties have unanimously agreed to commit to dialogue as a means of resolving emerging differences. The party leaders said dialogue was the only peaceful means of resolving conflict and all vowed to observe it by signing a commitment to the memorandum of understanding as part of their commitment to dialogue. “If you have a different understanding, do not use violence, do not use subversion.” The president said.

UGANDA, CHINA SIGN NEW DEFENCE PACT

SUMMARY: Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on Wednesday held high-level talks with his Chinese counterpart, Gen. Liu Zhenli, in Beijing, China culminating in the signing of a new bilateral military agreement between the two countries. The pact is expected to enhance co-operation in areas such as military training, education and technology transfer.

NO VISA BAN ON UGANDANS, SAYS UAE ENVOY

SUMMARY: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) envoy to Uganda has refuted media reports claiming that his country has imposed a visa ban on Ugandan nationals. Abdalla Hassan AlShamsi, the Head of Mission and UAE Ambassador to Uganda, said there has been no official communication regarding such a ban. “What is circulating out there is false,” AlShamsi said.
