Summary: The Traffic Police have issued safety guidelines to manage the expected surge in traffic and ensure the safety of learners as they return to school this week. The Police advised parents and guardians that have children under the age of 12 should always be accompanied by an adult or responsible elder when crossing busy roads. The Police also reiterated the ban on overloading motorcycles with children, a common practice in Uganda.

Summary: After about 111 years in Rome, Italy, the remains of two Uganda Martyrs, Charles Lwanga and Matia Mulumba, were returned to Uganda on Monday. The relics were returned ahead of the Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) exhibition, starting on Saturday at the university’s Rubaga campus in Kampala.

Summary: President Yoweri Museveni has warned the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) against corruption, saying, despite its achievements, he has noticed some weaknesses. The President warned that there were rampant corruption incidents in the selection of personnel who go for external missions, such as the one in Somalia, which he said had led to poor performance and mistakes in the operational areas.
