NIN BECOMES COMPULSORY FOR LAND DEALS

Summary: With effect from this month, Ugandans must have a National Identification Number (NIN) to buy or sell land, the Government has said. Foreigners or nationals abroad who have not obtained a NIN yet will be required to present their passport numbers to undertake a land transaction. The NIN requirement for land transactions is one of the functions that have been operationalised under the new Uganda National Land Information System (UgNLIS).

Summary: The Government has announced it will withdraw examination centres at over 550 Technical Vocational and Education Training (TVET) institutions for failing to meet their statutory registration requirements. The affected institutions have up to the end of December 30, to make the necessary reforms or face the penalty, the Executive Secretary of the Uganda Business and Technical Examination (UBTEB), Onesmus Oyesigye said yesterday.
