Summary: The Executive Director of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), Dr. Chris Makiza has clarified the figures related to Ugandan tribes reported in the 2024 census, emphasising that no tribe’s population has declined. Mukiza said the discrepancies noted in the report, which indicated a reduction in four out of the 14 main tribes, were the result of errors made by data entrants while comparing the 2024 figures with those of 2014.

Summary: President Museveni has said the rehabilitation of the old metre gauge railway and construction of the new Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) are on track. The rehabilitation of the metre gauge railway from Malaba on the Uganda-Kenya border in Tororo, Eastern Uganda, to Gulu and Arua in Northern Uganda is almost complete. The President said the twin railroads projects would cut transportation costs for goods and services.
