GOVERNMENT TO RECRUIT 2000 DOCTORS STAFF FOR REFERRAL HOSPITALS

SUMMARY: In a bid to address human resource gaps in the Health sector, the Government will recruit at least 2,000 health workers for deployment in public health facilities. According to the recruitment new plan, the Government will not only deploy specialists and consultants to these facilities, but also nurses, midwives and allied health workers alike.

SUMMARY: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag-bearer, yesterday electrified supporters in Amolatar and Dokolo districts as he started his campaign rallies in the Lango sub-region, pledging bold reforms in education, health and wealth creation if re-elected in 2026.

CDF MOVES TO STRENGTHEN UGANDA -CANADA MILITARY TIES

SUMMARY: The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF). Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, yesterday met with the Canadian defence advisor to Uganda, Col Todd Braithwaite, at the Special Forces Command (SFC) headquarters in Entebbe. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral military co-operation between Uganda and Canada. Col. Braithwaite thanked Gen. Kainerugaba for the meeting, describing it as a rare and valuable opportunity.

UGANDA TO HEAD GLOBAL CIVIL AVIATION COUNCIL

SUMMARY: Uganda has been elected to lead the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Council for the next three years, following a vote at the 42nd session of the Assembly in Montreal, Canada. The milestone was reached after Uganda secured 155 out of the 185 votes cast by ICAO member states at the global gathering, which began on September 23.
