Kampala, Uganda -Makerere University, in collaboration with Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is set to introduce a pioneering electric mobility skilling program.
This initiative will be based at the Makerere University Innovation Pod (Mak-UniPod) and will focus on providing specialised training in electric vehicle technologies, engineering design, and related fields to selected students.
The comprehensive program will encompass electric vehicle basics, renewable energy technologies, and hands-on training with electric vehicle powertrains.
It will span a one-year training period and will culminate in successful participants becoming Kiira Motors Corporation Associate Researchers.
The partnership’s goals include bridging the gap between innovation and market viability, fostering sustainable mobility solutions, combating climate change, and supporting Uganda’s transition to clean energy.
