In a promising display of commitment to progress, Investment minister Hon Anite, Director General UIA Robert Mukiza, and Board Chairman Morrison Rwakakamba embarked on a tour and fact-finding mission earlier today, seeking insight into the state of the Kampala Industrial and Business Park (Namanve) infrastructure project. This ambitious endeavor, poised to reshape the nation’s economic fabric, is at the forefront of Uganda’s industrial evolution.
The Namanve Industrial Park, a signature project for Uganda, stands as a testament to the country’s dedication to fostering growth and prosperity. With its diverse array of components, including roads, power, CCTV, solar street lighting, water supply systems, waste facilities, and an SME park, the park is on the cusp of transforming a once untamed landscape into a bustling hub of innovation and opportunity.
The latest statistics provide a glimpse into the scale of this transformative effort. A total of 368 companies have been allocated land within the park, a clear indication of the robust interest and potential that Namanve holds. Among these, 133 factories are already operational, breathing life into the park and contributing to its vibrant ecosystem.
The momentum of progress is palpable, as an additional 154 factories are in various stages of construction, each brick and beam a testament to the collective determination to contribute to Namanve’s growth. But the commitment doesn’t stop there; 90 entities are diligently preparing for their journey through titling, surveying, and obtaining NEMA approvals, eager to take their place in this thriving community.
The allure of Namanve extends beyond its borders, as 19 newly allocated companies embrace the opportunity to shape their futures within its confines. Their entry heralds a new wave of progress, each venture intertwining with the other to weave a tapestry of innovation and enterprise.
Yet, the true measure of Namanve’s impact lies in the promise it holds for employment. A staggering 22,743 direct jobs currently thrive within its boundaries, each job a testament to the park’s ability to generate livelihoods and empower families. Beyond the immediate impact, 159,201 indirect jobs ripple through communities, painting a picture of interconnected prosperity.
As the final pieces of this ambitious puzzle fall into place, the vision for Namanve becomes even more compelling. The promise of 250,000 direct jobs upon completion amplifies its significance, signifying not just a development, but a transformational force that will shape lives and communities.
Beyond the numbers, the narrative of Namanve is enriched by the dedication and collaboration of many. Hon Anite Evelyn, Investment Minister, shared the story of Namanve’s evolution, from a perilous area to an industrial beacon, showcasing the power of vision and determination.
Robert Mukiza, Director General of Uganda Investment Authority, reinforced the commitment to completing the project within the defined timeframe, fueled by the support and encouragement of partners such as the UK Government. The widespread impact of this industrialization agenda, stretching across 18.2 square miles of land for industrial park development, underscores the unity of purpose that drives Uganda forward.
Chairman Morrison Rwakakamba’s forward-looking perspective on the role of Uganda Investment Authority encapsulates the essence of Namanve’s purpose – to be a catalyst for economic advancement, job creation, and prosperity.
In the unfolding story of Namanve, every statistic, every factory, every job is a chapter in Uganda’s narrative of progress. It is a testament to the country’s resilience, vision, and unwavering commitment to shaping a future where growth, innovation, and sustainability thrive. As the tour of Namanve’s infrastructure project continues, it becomes evident that this endeavor is more than just construction – it is a manifestation of Uganda’s determination to build a legacy of progress and prosperity.
