The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) and the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) have begun an extensive awareness campaign in the West Nile region to tackle fuel adulteration.
The effort builds on the government’s Fuel Marking and Quality Monitoring Programme (FMQMP), which has reduced adulteration to less than 1%.
The campaign consists of workshops, radio talk programmes, and community participation events.
The campaign emphasises the significance of collaboration, consumer education, stringent licencing procedures, and compliance with safety and environmental requirements by petroleum operators.
The gathering drew representatives from several districts.
